TAKEN TO THURINGIA

Belgian Royal Children

The Consul-General of Belgium has received cabled advice from London that the Belgian Government has learnt that the Germans apprehended the Belgian Royal children on June 9 and removed them to Thuringia, in Central Germany. It is stated in Belgian circles in London that King Leopold, who was transported on June 7, has been taken to Bavaria, and thus separated from his family. It is added: “The version issued by the .German Brussels radio is that Hitler ‘wished tp safeguard the King against Allied air attacks.’ The insincerity of this pretension is shown by the fact that the Germans did not reveal or try to justify the outrage till the King’s removal was announced by the Belgian Government.”
