“ARSENIC AND OLD LACE”
Without seeing “Arsenic and Old Lace” it is difficult to believe that an audience can be made to roar witli laughter at murder guffaw at the information that there are 13 bodies in the cellar, chuckle when the poison recipe is given, and realize with pleasurable anticipation from a murderess’s glance tSiat there' is prospect of another corpse. Yet that is the universal reaction of Wellington audiences to “Arsenic and Old Lace,” now being presented at the Opera House by the J. C. Williamson company There arc only five more nights of “Arsenic and Old Lace,” and on Saturday afternoon and evening the company will present for the first time here Rachel Frother's very intriguing and provocative comedy drama, "Susan and God,” which ■ran tor over Hi weeks in Sydney and proved unite as popular as "Arsenic and Old Lace” in Auckland. The name part will bo- taken by Miss Neva Carr Gl.vn, who will be making her first appearance here this season, and the role of Barrie will be portrayed by Mr. Lloyd Lamble. The box plans for “Susan and God” will be opened tomorrow morning.
