Tour In Pacific Area The arrival iu the Pacific of the bam. of the Royal New Zealand Air Itorce was announced yesterday by the Minister ot Defence, Mr. Jones. “At the request ot the United States authorities, the band is making a tour in the forward area of the Pacific to provide entertainment for United States and New Zealand service personnel,” said the Minister. He added that it was fitting that men in the forward areas should have the advantage of the first-class entertainment that tat band could provide. A point that particularly pleased him was that the Lmted States had catered for the entertainment of New Zealand servicemen, and the visit of the band would to some extent repay the Americans for that kindly interest. It was generally admitted that the band could provide entertainment equal to the best, said Mr. Jones, and the men iiciitinff a monotonous war under trying tropical conditions were definitely entitled to the best entertainment this Dominion could offer. It was satisfactory, therefore, that arrangements could be made to send the band on a Pacific tour, and he was pleased to be able to «ay that the bandsmen had now arrived safely at tbeir first island destination.
