RUGBY FOOTBALL

King’s Birthday Matches Au endeavour is to be made to arrange a match on Athletic Park, Wellington, on King's Birthday, between the’ Army senior team and a team selected from other club teams in the Wellington senior grade. In making this suggestion to the meeting of the Wellington Rugby Union s management committee last night, the chairman, Mr. J. N. Millard, said the display of the Army team in the match against Old Boys last Saturday was one of the best he had seen for a long while. He tel. that the Army team would be a worthy opponent for any team of players whic-i could be drawn from the other clubs. Members of the committee wfio had seen the game agreed that it was one of the best seen at Athletic Park for years, and it was stated that nothing but praise of the play had been heard from all sides. If the game is played a full round of the senior competition Is to bo played on the preceding Saturday. . Permission was granted to the Petone club to play a senior and a third grade match against Masterton Old Boys on King’s Birthday..
