The Americans, advancing north alter breaking through the southern halt ot the Adolf Hitler Line, are now about 30 miles from Allies in the Anzio beachhead,' says a report from the advanced headquarters in Daly. They are also making rapid headway along the coast. They captured the coastal village ot Sperlonga and are now over a mile northwest of the village. . The Itri-Pico lateral road is now firmly in Allied hands from the coast to a point two miles north of Itri The British United Press correspondent with the Fifth Army reports that, a series of sharp explosions from Ferracma were heard late yesterday, indicating that the Germans are carrying out demolitions. The Allied troops, though advancing as fast as possible with artillery close behind them, are finding it difficult to maintain contact with the Germans, so rapiu is their retreat. The enemy is making frequent counterattacps east of Pico. The Eighth Army in the Liri Valley is still battling lor possession of Piedimonte. Rain has turned the valley into mud.
