Undergrade Potatoes Arrangements for the disposal of undergrade potatoes by South Island growers were announced yesterday by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Roberts. “After a full review of the position of undergrade potatoes and the n )9 available for their disposal, said the Minister, “the Potato Advisory Committee lias recommended that steps be taken to permit certain quantities of these potatoes to be forwarded under supervision to North Island markets. In view of the facts that the American forces are prepared to accept as many first-grade potatoes as this country can spare and that the errowinff season just completed has been such as to produce a ra . th “Jngher proportion than usual of potatoes that cannot be graded according to the regulations. I am happy to accept this recommendation. Steps are accordingly bein„ taken to allow shipment, through the usual potato mercantile channels, ot those undergrade potatoes which are ot good etlible quality, but which for one reason or another cannot reasonably be graded to the prescribed f.a.q. standard.
