DISTRICT OFFICERS

Rehabilitation Of Forces

Additional appointments of district rehabilitation officers were announced last evening by the Minister of Rehabilitation. Major Skinner, as follows: — Whangarei. Mr. H. S. Bower: Hamilton, Mr. D. Barrett; Gisborpe, Mr. D. R. A. Baker; Paeroa, Mr. G. G. Rae: Ashburton, Mr. L. W. Baxter; Christchurch, Mr. J. B. Pearson: Masterton. Mr. E.M. Basil-Jones; Wanganui, Mr. J. W. BarBaker was educated at the Mt. Albert Grammar School, Auckland, and has been a member of the staff of the Justice Department since 1924. From 1935 to 1938 he was secretary to the M ellington District Adjustment Commission. He served in the Pacific with the 3rd Division of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. Mr. Basil-Jones was educated at the Christchurch Boys’ High School, and before the war was a member of the staff of the Social Security Department, Christchurch and Ashburton. He left New Zealand with the Ist Echelon and served with the division in Libya. Greece. Crete and Tunisia. He returned to isew Zealand with the first furlough draft and joined the’staff of the Rehabilitation Department in Christchurch. Mr. Barber was educated at the Waihl High School and Auckland University College, where he obtained his degree of bachelor of commerce. He was formerly a member of the staff of the Public Trust Office and was stationed at Auckland, tv anganui. Te Aroha. Tauranga and Wellington before proceeding overseas with the 3rd Echelon of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. Mr. Barber is a keen supporter of Rugby football. being a former secretary of the Thames Valley Rugby Union and at present a delegate for that body to the N.Z. Rugby Union, and took a prominent part in executive matters pertaining to the 2nd N.Z. Division’s Rugby in Egypt.
