WHEN RUSSIANS ARE READY
Stage Set For Offensive
LONDON, May 15.
The stage is set for an offensive the moment the Red Army Command desires it. The roads are now drying up in the north, and in the south they have long been ready for a full offensive, says Reuter’s Moscow correspondent. The German attacks north-west of Tiraspol have died down, indicating a decisive setback for the Germans on one of the most important sectors of the southern front. No material changes on the whole front are again reported) by the Soviet communique.
Reuter’s Moscow correspondent says that the Red Air Force continues 'to pound German rear bases and communications while naval aircraft of the Red Fleet are striking in the Baltic and the Black Sea as part of the softening-up process for the forthcoming offensive. Calm has again descended on the land front. A Russian air communique reports that long-range planes last night made an intensive raid on enemy military trains and rail junctions at Rawruska, north-west of Lvov, Stryj, south of Lvov, and Dvinsk, causing fires and explosions.
