In the Los Angeles Court Judge O'Connor dismissed the indictment charging Charlie Chaplin and others with conspiracy to deprive Jonn Barry of her civil rights. United States Attorney Carr said he had received written instructions from Washington to request the dismissal.

The California Supreme Court upheld the decisions of the two 'lower Courts, which refused to dismiss the paternity suit brought ngainst Chaplin in the name of Joan Barry’s baby. The Associated Press points out that the ruling means that the paternity suit must be tried on its merits.
