MOSQUITO RAID ON LUDWIGSHAVEN

Five English Towns Hit LONDON. May 10. R.A.F. Mosquitoes last night attacked Ludwigshaven, on the Rhine, the second largest centre of German chemical and explosive manufacture. Many 40001 b. bombs were dropped. Pilots reported that the target-markers were well concentrated, and they saw their bombs fall in the area. Fires were seen and later there was a large explosion. Other planes attacked targets in north-west Germany and an airfield in France. Four aircraft are missing. The Germans lost six of a small force of raiders they sent over Britain last night. Attacks were made on five south coast towns.

Powerful formations of bombers and fighters from Britain crossed the Straits yesterday morning in sunny weather. Objectives in northern France were attacked. No fighter opposition was met. Heavy bombers attacked the Pas de Calais area, medium bombers went for railway yards in northern France and an airfield near Paris, and fighter-bombers attacked targets in northern France. One Mustang is missing. The German news agency says that Bristol was attacked on Sunday night by strong bomber formations.
