Vice-Regal, Government House, Wellington. May 16. This morning his Excellency received Lieutenant-Colonel D. T. Maxwell, who has relinquished the appointment of honorary aide-de-camp to the GovernorGeneral. This evening their Excellencies the Governor-General and Lady Newall, attended by Flight. Lieutenant 11. A. Eaton, were present, at a performance given by tile Wellington Repertory Theatre in the Technical College Hull.

Eggie. who for 20 years has dealt, with struct oral defects in buildings in Wellington under the Public Health Act. recently retired front the employ of the City Corporation, In his annual report the city engineer said he took the opportunity of placing on record the building branch’s appreciation of Mr. Eggie’s outstanding services. "The duties of this officer were such.” said, the report, "that he was compelled to meet occupiers of dwellings when they were often in a condition of mental distress and when it was necessary to exercise patience and tact, qualities which were combined in a remarkable degree in Mr. Eggie.”
