Evidence of the substantial increase in prize money in New Zealand this season is provided bv the publication of the winning owners' list for the first nine months of tlie season. Though racing days have been substantially curtailed more owners have won bigger amounts Ilian for several seasons past. Last season Messrs. E. R. Davis and O. Nicholson, Auckland, headed the list ot winning owners with 110102. At the present stage of the current season they are again nt the top with ® 11315. _ Seven owners have won more than £5OOO, and more than £2OOO.
