Dividends Declared North Broken Hill has declared « dividend of 9d. a share, payable In Melbourne on June 27. Transfer books close at all offices of the company at 3 p.m. on May--22. Pato Consolidated Gold Dredging, Ltd., has declared an Interim dividend of 15 cents (Canadian) a share, payable on May 31. to shareholders recorded on the books of the company at the close of business on May 11. A non-resident tax of 15 per cent, is deductible. . (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 15. Cabled advice has been received by Mr. J. H. G. Banks, local dimtor and attorney from Loudon, that at the annual meeting of the Martha Gold Mining Company (Waihi) in London on June 8 the directors will recommend a first and final dividend on account of the year ended December 31, 1943 of Bd. a ehare, free of income tax, payable on June 26 to shareholders registered on June 1 and the dividend will be paid to shareholders on the New Zealand register in New Zealand currency. The dividend compares with lOd. in the previous year and 1/3 in 1941. Bums, Philp Year Net profit of £226,571 shown by Burns, Philp and Co., Ltd. (Sydney), for .the year ended March 31 is a further recovery of £25.107, Dividend of 10'per cent., a rate unaltered for 24 years, requires £200,000. The carry forward is increased to £35,101 from £33.530. Gold Mining The Grey River dredge, for the period from April 26 till May 10 returned 379.31 ounces for 259 hours from 158.853 yards. The April totals were 715.31 ounces. 456 hours. 271.628 yards. The Ngahere return for the four weeks ended May 12 was 578 ounces. 447 hours. 174,509 yards. The Slab Hut dredge resumed work on May 10 after having been shut down for an extended overhaul. Maori Gold last week returned 330 z. 6 dwt. for 66 hours from 7000 yards. The following information has been cabled to the London office of the Martha Gold Mining Company (Waihi), Limited: — For the period ended April 29. the mine operated for 17 days and crushed' 8586 tons for 228!) fine ounces of gold and 13,836 ffne ounces of silver. The reduced working time was due to statutory holidays. The Clutha River return last week was 94 ounces for 79 hours. Gillespie’s Beacli returned 29 ounces for 127 hours from 16,300 yards. Australian Price Of Tin An increase 1n the Australian price of tin to £4lO a ton is expected shortly. Announcing this at the annua! meeting of Briseis Consolidated, Sydney, the chairman, Sir Harry Moxham. recalled that the price of tin was first declared by the Prices Commissioner in 1940 at £306. billed on pre-war costs. This was revised to £320 in 1941 and £361 in 1942. The increases coincided closely with rising costs at Briseis. Application was made in 1013 for an increase to £4OO. and a favourable decision was expected on an application tills vear Cor an increase to £4lO.
