HAYWARD, Leslie F., T/Sub-Lieut. (A), R.N.Z.N.V.R. Mrs. F. A. Hayward 56 Buckley Road, Houghton Bay, Weilington.
F.-Sgt. J. M. Macleod
Flight Sergeant .1. M. .Maeleod, reporte-i killed on air operations, was the only son of Mr. D. J. Maeleod. Mt. Eden, Auckland, nnil grandson of Mrs. and the late Mr. John Atkinson, 43 Tasman Street, Wellington. Sutgennt Macleod left New Zealand twd* years ago, and alter gaining his wings in Canada, completed his training in England. He was educated at St. Marks School and biter at the Technical College. He was verv interested In amateur theatricals. and was a prominent member of the Thespians. He was on thp staff ot the native Affairs Department. He is survived by his wife, who is in England. Pilot Officer lan Bennington, who was reported recently to have been killed on active service, was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Bennington, Cornwall Street. Masterton. He was born at Wellington in 1910, and educa ed at the Muritai Public School and Wellington College, lie joined the tourist agency firm of Ihos. Cook and Sons, Wellington. Iwo years later on going to Masterton, lie was associated for « similar period with the local borough stare before joining the newly established Social Security Department, re. mainlng there till two years ago, when he obtained leave to join up with t e It X Z A F eventuallv becoming a member o f 'tiie' R. A.F. (Bomb’er Coinman d see 110 n).
