PRIZE-WINNING ITEMS

A programme of varied items was provided for members of the Women \\ inters and Artists’ Society at their recent monthly'meeting in Wellington. An address by Mrs. A. D. Kerr, on “VV citing ns an Art,” had to be postponed, due to her illness. One item of interest was the reading of the winner of this year’s Jessie Mackay Memorial- Prize won by a member of ibe society. Mrs. M. Gul-ery, formerly Miss Mary Greig. II anganti.. Also on the programme were the winning items in recent competitions, an article bv Miss A. Ironside. Christchurch, and a short story by Mrs. E. Coventry. Theswere followed by, readings of verse and nrose contributed by members. Miss Dun lop. Wanganui, gave pianoforte solos.
