“Stage Door Canteen’* (King’s).—A story of love in wartime, bringing to the screen in one film 48 great celebrities of the screen, stage and concert platform and six famous American bands. The supports include pictures of wartime activities in New Zealand aud the islands. “We’il Smile Again’* (Paramount). — Flanagan and Allen at'their best are hard to beat, aud in this film they are at the top of their form. The associate feature is “Shadow of u Doubt,” starring Teresa Wright and Joseph Cotten. Starting tomorrow: “For Me And My Gal” and “Kid Glove Killer.” "Hit Hie Ice” (St. James). —The two conicdy kings, Bud Abbott aud Lou Costello, have arrived iu their latest and funniest film as aces on icc, and with a brand new lot of mirthful gags. It will be a hilarious season. "King Arthur Was a Gentleman” (Stute). —Big-hearted Arthur Askey is in all kinds of trouble when he joins the army, and is a great conicdy success. “The Youngest Profession” (Majestic).— Concluding a very successful season, this pleasure-packed comedy will be shown finally tomorrow. Tomorrow: “Best Foot Forward,” a radiant comedy bit in teeliniCo “Tiie Lone Prairie” (Tudor). —A thrillpacked drama ot the West, starring Russell Hayden. Tomorrow: “Cinderella Swings It” and "Sagebrush Law.’’ • “Tlio Major and the Minor” (Regent),— Something right out of tlio ordinary in comedy, with Ginget Rogers and Ray Milland as the stars. "Victory Through Air Power” (Plaza).— Based on tiro sensational book by Major de Severskv. Also Walt Disney’s latest "Saludos Amigos,” which Introduces Disney’s old favourites in a new setting, plus Joe Carioca, the Brazilian jitterbird. “Heart ot the Golden West” (De Luxe). —Roy Rogers moving about in a hail of lead, followed by Bob 'Nolan and Ruth Terry. Au entertaining film, “Mokey,” Is the supporting feature. “White Cargo" (Tivoli).—A tropical temptress, iplayed by Hedy Lamarr, causes emotional havoc among dissolute white men.
