Bar To Distinguished Service Cross
Advice has 'been received from the Admiralty that. His Majesty the King has approved of the award of a Bar to the Distinguished Service Cross to Lieutenant-Commander Charles George Palmer. D.'S.C., RJN.Z'N.VJR.. for good service in minesweeping for forces operating in support ■of the Fifth Army. Lieutenant-Commander Palmer was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross ou January 1, 1942, for outstanding zeal, patience and cheerfulness and for setting an example of wholehearted devotion to dU ln‘ December, 1943, LieutenantCommander Palmer was mentioned in dispatches for good service in attacks on Sicily In November last he was reported wounded during operations in the Mediterranean. His next-of-kin is his father, Commander C. H. T. Palmer, R N.Z.N.V.R. (Rtd.). 78 Sarsfield Street, Herne Bay. Auckland.
