AUSTRALIAN MINE

Government Takes Over

SYDNEY, May 8.

The Commonwealth Government will take over its second coal mine on May 15. This mine is at Lidsdale, in western New South Wales. 'l’lie first mine to he taken over by the Commonwealth after the new Coat Production Act came into force on March 8 was Coalcliff, on the south coast. It was acquired on March Ji after a general strike on the southern field bad caused a production loss ot about 230.000 tons in a month. There have been no recent disputes at the Lidsdale mine, where work has continued regularly. The Commonwealth is taking over the mine so that it can install additional machinery to increase production. ______
