FOR HOME AND SCHOOL
Though inaugurated only 18 months ago, the Karori Home and School Association has proved itself to be an educw five and unifying force. At its meetings, films of interest are shown and talks on special subjects are provided for the parents and others interested. During the year the following have contributed talks at the successfully-arranged evenings:— Professor W. H. Gould, Victoria University College; Miss J. S. Johnston school infant mistress; Nurse Thomas, school nurse; Dr. Hubert Smith, medical officer of health; Mr. S. M. Williams, handcraft instructor; Mr. T. J. Young, music lecturer, Wellington Teachers’ Training College. At the annual meeting, held recently, appreciation was expressed to the speakers and to the following:—Mrs. J. C. Beaglehole, the retiring chairman, for inaugural work on behalf of the association, Mrs. K. M. Barker, for her work as hon. secretary, the school committee, for use of school, educatioin board, tor loan of films and teaching staff for cooperation. , ... Officers were, elected as follows — Chairman, Mrs. Walter Long: vice-chair-man, Mrs. W. G. Dent; hon. secretary, Mrs. K. May Barker; hon. treasurer, Mrs. M. G. H. Marshall; teaching staff. Mr. A. Henderson, Miss J. 8. Johnston; school committee, Mr. J. J. Knight, Mr. P. F. Stevens. th General committee, Mesdames J. C. Beaglehole, J. Campbell. E. A. Crpthall, N. Patterson, G. »L. Randell. R.. G. Simmers, E. Walpole, G. T. Wiggs, Messrs. S. W. Brooker, K. J. M. Hayr, E. S. W. Parsons, Gordon Wilson; hon. auditor, Mr. W. G. Dent.
