MERCANTILE CRICKET
Tho recording secretary. Mr E. R. Martin. reported at yesterday’s meeting of the management committee of the Wellington Mercantile Cricket League that it was expected there would be 28 or 30 teams in this season’s competitions. Advice was received that the city council’s reserves department anticipated that wickets would be ready for grade matches on October 30, provided the weather remained steady. A welcome was extended to Mr. F. Bryant. who had been elected to fill the vacancy on the committee caused by the death of Mr. W. R. King. The question of the grading of teams and the fixtures was left to the respective sub-committees to report to the npxt meet--IDTherc were present Messrs. E. F. Casey (chairman), S. R. Martin (treasurer), E. R. Martin (recording secretary). R. Bennett, E. W. S. Kelliek. L. V. Randall. W. Matson. J. M. Pointon, J. C. Cusack (umpires’ representative). F. Bryant, and G. P. Aldridge (secretary). The president, Mr J. O’Sullivan, was also in attendance.
