SHIPMENTS DECLINE

Swedish Iron Ore For Germany LONDON, October 17. The .Stockholm newspaper “Aftonbladet” says that between 40 and 50 shins are waiting at Lulea (Sweden) for iron ore, which was ordered by the Germans but which has never arrived. The official reason for the decline in iron ore deliveries is the interruption of the main electric railway service to Lulea “for extensive repair,” which is expected to continue till the middle of November, when the port is icebound. The’ Stockholm correspondent of the British United Press estimates that iron ore shipments from Sweden to Germany have fallen by two-fifths in the past few weeks. Germany normally receives about 6,000,000 tons of iron ore from Lulea during the six or seven months the port is ice-free.
