Barclay on bis resignation from the Executive Council and the relinquishment of his portfolios. Later his Excellency received the Honourable F. Jones, Minister of Defence.

The Very Rev. Dr. J. A. Kennedy has been appointed tlie Vicar-Capitular to administer the diocese of Christchurch pending the appointment by Hie Holy bee of a successor to the late Bishop Brodie. Dr. Kennedy for some years has Deen parish priest at Beckenham.
