Radio Programmes
Sir, —The Dominion executive of the League of Mothers will be very gratified to know of the interest, shown by your correspondent, “Faugh Gallagh, regarding our attitude to radio programmes. I should be very pleased to supply information about the league, but for the moment it will suffice to quote its second object: “To help parents to realize the greatness of their responsibility and the power of their influence in forming the character of the child.” The League of Mothers is very gravely concerned about radio programmes today. We are convinced that parental influence—which should be the chief influence in forming the character of the child —has a very serious competitor in the radio. It is therefore our duty aud definite intention to pursue the question, with a view to converting this adverse competition into willing cq-operation. which will secure for the children only the best influences both parental and through the radio. The question will be discussed at the next meeting of the Dominion executive in November, when we shall decide upon a definite course ot action. —I am, etc., L. Vi INU RED WALL, Dominion President of the League of Mothers. Wellington, October 16.
