JURY HEARS MISCHIEF CHARGE
A type of ease which does not usually reach the Supreme Court, n charge of mischief, came before the Supreme Court, Wellington, yesterday. Accused was Arthur Allan Dillon, hairdresser, aged di, and it was alleged that he went to an apartment house where his wife, from whom he had been legally separated for two years, lived, and burned clothing that was there. Articles belonging to his wife valued pt £9/4/- and articles belonging to her room-mate valued at tzi 5/-, were destroyed, being found burning on the hearth of the room by the proprietress of the bouse shortly after she had found accused in the room and had asked him to leave. Accused admitted being in the house, but denied mu mg burned the clothes. After a retirement of 31 minutes the jury found him ‘ guilty under extreme provocation, with a strong recommendation to mercy. ’’ Accused wan remanded till this morning for sentence. .Mr. A. 11. Maeandrew appeared for accused.
