WAR CO-OPERATION

N.Z. Trees As Monument In Australia

CANBERRA, October 17. On the steep side of Brinda Bella, a wild, rugged mountain in Federal territory, 30 miles from Canberra, a grove of native New Zealand trees will one day stand as a monument to the war-time -co-operation of New Zealand and Australia. The first two of 48 trees sent to Australia by the New Zealand Government were today planted by the High Commissioner in Australia, Mr. Berendsen, and the Minister of the Interior, Senator Rollings. Mr. Berendsen said that the trees were emblematic of the I

close and enduring relationship between the two Dominions. Senator Collings thanked the New Zealand Government for the trees, and said they exemplified the ideals of the two Pacific Dominions. Like the trees, Australia and New Zealand were reaching for the sun, determined to occupy their rightful p'ace in the Pacific.
