GOLDEN WEDDING
Major And Mrs. R. S. Hunter-Blair Yesterday Major and Mrs. R. S. Hunter-Blair celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in Christchurch They were married on October 17, 1893, nt St. Mary’s Church, Merivale, by the Bishop of Christchurch, assisted by the Rev. Walter Harper. Mrs. Hunter-Blair, who is the youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Rhodes, formerly of Elmwood, was given away by her-brother, Mr. (now Sir) R. Heaton Rhodes. Their Excellencies Lord and Lady Glasgow were present at the ceremony, Lady Glasgow being a sister of Major (then Captain) Hunter-Blair. Gordon Highlanders, son of Sir Edward Hunter-Blair, the fourth baronet.
The bridesmaids were Miss Hutton (now Mrs. Lancelot Lane), the Lady Augusta Boyle (Lady Orr-Ewing), the Lady Alice Boyle (Lady Alice Fergusson), and the Lady Dorothy Boyle (Lady Medway). The two tiny train-bearers were Gwenda Parker and Janet Boyle (now Mrs. Algar Williams). After the ceremony Mrs. Rhodes, the bride's mother, held a large reception at Elmwood.
The anniversary was quietly celebrated by a family gathering.
