HOMELY TOUCHES
Men In Uniform Find Them At Service Clubs
Flowers from many Wellington gardens found their way to city service clubs to provide the “home” touch of floral decorations that meu in uniform appreciate. They appreciate, too, the comfortable easy chairs, quiet corners for writing their letters, or listening to a radio, and the entertainment to be had on the dance floor, where orchestras play for the popular weekend dances. Kitchens at these clubs have expanded to meet the growing need for more meals and can now supply hundreds at one time. Even those clubs who serve only light refreshments can do so easily for large numbers, so well have they learned to cope with unexpected rushes at teatime. Voluntary workers are always ready to give up their leisure hours to ensure that proceedings go without a hitch, and it is due to their often unseen efforts that the smooth running and management of a cdub is due. What such people are doing for the servicemen is a commendable war effort.
