TRAINING COURSES
Need For Women In Politics That training courses of instruction should be set up for the guidance of prospective women Parliamentary candidates, was considered an imperative need, when a foundation meeting of the “Women to Wellington” movement was held in Auckland ou Thursday. The same course would apply for women eager to fill positions of trust and responsibility on boards and local bodies. Executive‘leadership, it was felt, was urgently needed at the present time. It’was hoped that the new movement would fill a much-needed want in coordinating women’s organizations more closely and in stimulating collective and individual effort. It would also inspire united associations to take a deeper interest in civic and political affairs. The meetng was convened by Dr. Ran-dal-Colyer, who has done much to interest women in the idea. As liaison officer and Press represenative in New Zealant for the New South Wales Women s Union of Service, she was asked by the “Women to Canberra” movement in Melbourne and Sydney to launch a similar movement in the Dominion. The, mayoress of Auckland, Mrs. Allum, presided at the meeting, which represented a progressive co-operative effort, on the part ot thinking women of the Dominion to unite in formulating practical schemes and sound working programmes for present and post-war planning.
