Hannan —Bevans
At the Sacred Heart Church, I’etone, the marriage took place recently of Edith Eileen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. 11. Bevans, Petone, and Janies Edward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hannan, Petone, the bridegroom having returned after serving with the Army overseas. The Rev. Father O’Donnell officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of ivory hailstone net over taffeta, made with a fitting bodice and full skirt. Her hand-embroid-ered tulle veil was held in place with a halo of net and orange blossom and she carried a bouquet of cream sweet, peas, freezias, hyacinths, birch and maidenhair °There were two bridesmaids, Miss Gwenda Bevans, the bride’s sister, and Miss Joau McCarthy, who wore frocks of turquoise taffeta finished with violet velvet ribbons threaded through coffee lace. They had violets in their hair and carried violet posies. The flower girl, Maureen Davis, was in a frock of lavendar taffeta, trimmed similarly to those of the bridesmaids. Corporal Martin "Wells was best man and Mr. Parry Taplin, the groomsman. _ A reception was held in the Catholic Hall, Petone, the bride’s mother receiving the guests wearing a navy costume with white blouse and navy accessories and a spray of pink siveet peas. The bridegroom’s mother assisted her. She was in a black frock with touches of pink, worn with a fur coat and black accessories. The two-tiered wedding cake was made by the bride’s mother. The bride travelled in a navy two-piece suit with white organdie revere, a navy hat and purse and white gloves. '■
