Care Of Servicemen

The formation of a hostess circle ,in Wellington was decided on at a meeting of women this week, most of those present being mothers of soldiers serving overseas. . , The Hostess Circle consists of women who have in the past done good service in offering hospitality to members of the forces. They said they now felt that the time had come for them, apart from acting as hostesses, to take an active part in forming a well-run bureau to - deai with all the problems of hospitality. Many more hostesses are needed, and those who are willing to assist in any of the following ways are asked to contact Mrs.. J. W. Innes, telephone 24-buO, or write to her care of Pox 199, stating in which capacity they .are most able to assist: Hospitality for sick and wounded ; accommodation of next-of-kin of dangerously ill. sick and wounded ; day or evening hospitality for any members of the forces; overnight or weekend accommodation; accommodation of servicemen’s wives as paying guests for a few days; accommodation as paying guests of servicemen who are on temporary transfer or holiday for a week or two. Acknowledgment will be made of ah offers of help, and all hostesses will become members of the circle. Methods of contacting the men to make known the desire to help them were discussed and agreed on by the meeting.
