PHAR LAP’S DAM
Entreaty Dead, Aged 23 Dominion Special Service. CHRISTCHURCH, October 14. The death occurred this week of Entreaty, who earned fame by producing Phar Lap. She foaled a filly last week to Nightmarch, but complications set in and she died of blood poisoning.. The youngster is being hand reared in the meantime and it is hoped that a. foster mother may be found for her. Entreaty was 23 years of age and in addition to Phar Lap she produced Fortune’s Wheel, ,Nea Lap, Nightguard. AU Clear, Friday Night, Te Uira and Raphis. In the first eight years of her stud life Entreaty was owned by the late Mr. A. F. Roberts who sold Phar Lap as a yearling for ICOgns., and Nightguard for loOOgns. After the death of Mr. Roberts, Entreaty was sold at a dispersal sale in March, 1032, to Mr. F. Armstrong, Christchurch, for luOOgns. Though a regular breeder, Entreaty did not produce anything approaching Phar Lan in class. Night Raid, the sire of Phar Lap. died at Timaru a few weeks ago.
