Use Of Italian Ships

RUGBY, October 12. “I can assure my honourable friend that the Italian ships will be used to the best possible advantage of the United Nations,” said Mr. Churchill, answering a question in the House of Commons regarding Italian warships and merchantmen. , T “The major part of the Italian Fleet, totalling more than .100 warships of all categories, is in Allied hands. This includes five out of tlie six battleships in commission and eight out of the 11 cruisers More than 150,000 tons of merchant ships so far have been accounted for in ports under Allied control. It will not be in the' public interest to go into further detail. The position of ships and crews is still under active consideration.”
