CIVIC CENTRE PLAN
The Wellington City Council heard a further dejiutation from the Combined Citizens’ Committee last night concerning the plans for the new civic centre. The deputation addressed the council tor an hour. Before going into committee at 12.25 this morning the council, whicli did hot then discuss the deputation s representations, decided on tlie motion of the mayor, Mr. Hislop, to ask the Government Town Planner, Mr. J. W. Mawson. to discuss the matter with it. Earlier Cr. J. D. Sievwright gave notice of motion that he would move at the next meeting that a composite, body be appointed by the council consisting ot Kessrs. 11. S. B. Fletcher, A. Richard; son. and E. Anscombc of the Citizens Committee Mr. Mawson, Government Town Planner, together with four councillors, including the mover and seconder, and the city engineer, to meet with and discuss in all its aspects the proposed plans and the execution of a civic centre, such committee to consider such plans and report the result of their findings for the council's help and guidance.
