Discussions On Many Topics
The question of the sale of freezing works to overseas interests was the subject of discussion at a two-day meeting of the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board in Wellington. Lengthy consideration was given to the opening schedule prices for the forthcoming season. The board met the Minister of Financb, Air. Nash, and submitted certain proposals for consideration by the Government. As soon as a reply is received from the Alinister it will be considered by a special committee. Opportunity was also taken to discuss with Air. Nash several other subjects, including matters relating to the meat pool account, pelt prices and the manpower position nt freezing works. The board gave further consideration to questions relating to the fat stock disposal order. A report was received on the latest position relating to killings, shipments and stocks in store. The latest grading reports were examined; also an application for permission to effect certain alterations to a freezing works. The position of the pig industry was discussed, as relating to file present pigmeat prices. Further consideration was also given to the remits received from the recent annual meeting of the delegates constituting the electoral committee.
Grants were authorized to two A. and P. associations for prize money in lhe chiller cattle classes at forthcoming shows.
