MONEY FOR TROOPS

Remittances Increased An increase of £lO (from £3O N.Z. to £4O N.Z.) in the amount which may be transmitted during any one remittance year to members of the armed forces serving overseas was announced yesterday by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash. This has been done instead of providing for a special Christmas remittance for the present year.

“Many relatives and friends of mon serving overseas forward remittances as Christinas gifts,” said Mr. Nash, “and these remitters arc urged to lodge the money at a bank and forward the bank receipts to the departments concerned (Base Records, Air and Navy Departments) as early as possible, and certainly not later than November 24 next.” The remittance year for first and second echelon troops begins on June 1, while for all others tlie remittance year begins as from the date of embarkation.
