Valuer-General Retires
After over 44 years in the Public Service. the Valuer-General, >lr. W. Stewart has retired on superannuation, lie began his service as a clerical cadet in the Lands and (Survey district office, Wellington, in March, 1899, and during his cadetship served also as a draughting and as a field cadet. He passed the examination for surveyor m 1906. In IJ-8 he was transferred to Christchurch as chief draughtsman. Later he became Commissioner of Crown Lands for Canterbuiy and in 1934 he- was transferred back to Wellington on promotion to the office of Valuer-General.
