CHURCHILL SCOOP

U.S. Pressmen Annoyed

NEW YORK, October 8. The Office of War Information'is seeking the adoption of a British-American news policy which will -prevent Mr. Churchill scooping the American Press on big war news, as he did in his speech in the House’ of Commons on September 21, said 'Mr. Elmer Davis, director of the office. Mr. Davis said that Mr. Churchill disclosed information which had been withheld from the British and American public for security reasons, thereby overriding his own Government’s policy. “He is an old and good reporter, and sometimes cannot resist the temptation to give himself a few exclusive stories,” he added. American newspapermen are most annoyed at Mr. Ch]jfchiU’s revelation that no Allied merchantmen had been sunk in the North Atlantic for four months, because this story was of special interest and importance to the United States.
