N.Z. Prisoners In Italy (Received October 10, 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, October 9. Reports received in London indicate that the number of New Zealand prisoners in Italy who are likely to be free may not be large. It apears that all officers at Campo 47, numbering more than 200, have probably been moved to Germany. It is known that about 20 have arrived in Germany. * The reports indicate that the Italians in some eases threw the prisoner camps open when the armistice was declared and it is therefore likely that many New Zealanders may be at large, but some may have lacked food and assistance and have given themselves up. Seven, however, have reached Switzerland. Generally speaking, the news received is fragmentary and the position is therefore unsatisfactory.
