GENERAL’S PRAISE
Work Of N.Z. Hospital Staff N.Z.E.F. Official News Service. CAIRO. October 6. Praise for the work of the hospital staff, particularly under difficult and trying climatic conditions, was given by Lieutenant-General Freyiberg in an address at a parade of sisters, W.A.A.C. s (hospital division), and a company of the No. 1 New Zealand General Hospital yesterday. Under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel ID. G. Radcliff, the parade was drawn up on a ground near the hospital, with a large contingent of sisters in white uniforms on the left, a large muster of khaki-clad nurses on the right, and the company in the centre. After inspecting the guard of honour, General Freyiberg passed down all ranks of the parade. In his address, he said that everywhere in the division there was praise for the. 'work of the hospital staff, and in New Zealand, too, there was great appreciation of the care and attention given to the sick and wounded. On his recent tour of the Dominion, he said, he had found this acknowledgment freely expressed by former patients. He extended a welcome to V.A.D.’s. It was the first opportunity he had had of seeing them on parade, he said, and he was impressed with their smart turn-out. The sisters were under the command of Matron A. C. Mackay and the nurses under the command of (Subaltern Making.
