The manager of the Auckland Gas Company, commenting on Thursday on a further 'failure in the city gas supplies that afternoon, said that it was a direct result of the stopwork meeting held by the employees on Monday. The meeting had been reported to the National Service Department. Failure to supply the normal amount of coal to the retorts and coke to the furnaces on that day bad affected the supply ever since. _ Apart from the gas production lost —350,000 cubic feet—the lowered temperature of the retorts had an adverse affect, on the quality of the gas.
