An unusual application was made before Sir. Freeman, SAL, at Hamilton, when he was asked to decide the ownership of a bicycle. There were two claimants. the original owner and the man who bought it legitimately from an auctioneer. The auctioneer bought the machine in good faith from a man who had got it from a man who had stolen it. This man was now serving overseas. The magistrate ordered the bicycle to be returned to the original owner and advised the second claimant to recover, the purchase price from the auctioneer.
