N.Z. MANUFACTURERS

Annual Conference At Napier Next Week One of the largest commercial conferences in New Zealand to be held outside Wellington, will be that of the N.Z. Manufacturers’ Association, which starts at Napier on Tuesday. Apart from Hawke's Bay district manufacturers, the conference party will comprise over 150, of whom 110 are official manufacturers delegates coming from Invercargill, Dunedin, Timaru, Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland. Mr. C. V. Smith will preside. - n - - The conference will be opened at 10.10 a.m. on Tuesday, 'by the Minister of Supply. Mr. Sullivan. The Minister of Rehabilitation, Major‘Skinner, will give an address on rehabilitation and. to discuss matters relating to rehabilitation with the delegates. Messrs. H. L. Bockett. Controller of Manpower, and I?. W. Marshall, Director N.Z. Supply Mission, Washington, will also deliver, addresses. This year manufacturers will. devote part of their discussion to questions of post-war trading policy and activities which are coming to the fore. The .acute manpower position in industry which is stated to be materially limiting the possibility of supplying essential civilian goods as well as interfering with the production of war supplies for the NFw Zealand and Allied Forces will be fully discussed.
