NATIONAL PARTY

Two-Day Caucus Convened

The first caucus of the Parliamentary Section of the National Party has been convened for October 19 and 20. Though the official counts of the election results have not been completed, nearly 20 new members of the Opposition will probably attend the caucus. Two of the newlyelected nicmbers —Messrs. A. J. Mindoch (Marsden) and K. J. Holyoake (Pahiatua)— will be . making a reappearance after absences of eight years and five years respectively from larliament. Most of the members met at the candidates’ conference held before the election campaign opened, but the caucus will provide them with the first opportunity of discussing party questions of the future. . . Unless there is some indication as to when the House of Representatives is to meet, the appointment of party officials such as a deputy-lciidor aud whips is unlikely to be made at this caucus.
