CANBERRA, October 6. An investigation into reported Japanese atrocities in New Guinea are being made on the spot, said the Minister of the Army, Mr. Forde, commenting on tbe .execution of. an Allied airman after lie bad been captured by the Japanese. “The atrocities,” he said, “clearly indicate the barbarous type of enemy to be defeated in the Pacific and should inspire the Australian people to a greater war effort.”
