The olliciiil count of civilian votes in a further njiinber of the electorates has now been completed, but it is likely to be some days yet before the oilic'ial counts of servicemen and servicewomen’s votes for inclusion in a final official tola! will be available and' it will be possible to arrive at .‘in exact, and final result in any electorate. Among the electorates for which the final civilian figures are now available are two of those in which the majorities originally returned were small, Oamaru am! Otaki. In Oamaru, according to a Press Association message, tlie election night majority of six for the National candidate, Mr. T. R. Beatty, has, with the inclusion of service votes subject to recount, been changed to a majority of 105 for the Minister of Health, Mr. Nordmeyer, the sitting Labour member. Tlie figures, including tlie services vote subject to recount, are:—

In Otaki, the majority in favour of the sitting Labour member, Mr. L. G. Lowry, when the official civilian count is bulked with the preliminary count of service votes, is 178, compared with the 59 at which it stood on the preliminary count. In tlie following list of results, the main total after each name is the sum of the civilian votes finally counted and the preliminary count of service votes credited to the candidate on election night, the number of tlie latter being shown in parentheses following the main total. These service figures are subject to the inclusion of a considerable number ot service votes not j.et counted, but which will be included in the final count. These figures are supplied by the Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. L. Irwin.
