AMBASSADOR TO MOSCOW
LONDON, October 1. It is officially announced in Washing* ton that Sir. W. A. Harriman, co-ordina-fi tor of lease-lend activities, has been, ap-g pointed United. States Ambassador toj Moscow, to replace Admiral Standley, who recently returned to . the United States. Mr. Harriman has paid two visits tor: Russia during the present war. He was head of the American mission which, worked with the British Mission to Moscow under Lord Beaverbrook in 1941, and in 1942 Mr. Harriman was present at discussions between Marshal Stalin; and Mr. Churchill in Moscow.
