Losses By Servicemen To Be Investigated A statement by the president of the Auckland R.S.A., Mr. Postlewaite, that some servicemen Avho had paid deposits, in cases amounting to £lOO, on homepurchase deals Avhich had fallen through due to the necessary loan not being obtained from the State Advances Corporation, had lost their money, wqs referred to on Saturday by the Minister of. Rehabilitation, Major Skinner. He said lie was sending a telegram to Mr. Postlewaite asking him for full particulars of the cases quoted by him with a VieAV to an investigation being made. A warning to ex-servicemen desiring to purchase homes for themselves to communicate with their local rehabilitation committee before taking any action Avas also issued by Major Skinner. He said they should not commit themselves in any way Avith any agents till they had taken this first step. The local rehabilitation committee Avould be able to advise them whether or not their cases Avere likely to be viewed favourably. It had already been announced that rehabilitation officers avcjc to be appointed overseas and to hospital ships to advise returning men, added Major Skinner. When that Avas (lone returning men would have all the information possible in connexion with rehabilitation, and that should avoid a repetition of the eases Avhich it Avas claimed had occurred in Auckland.
