HASTINGS WEATHER IN SEPTEMBER

HASTINGS, October 2. ‘The weather in Hastings in tbe early part of September was cold and wet, and it had an adverse affect, on the growth of grass and lambing operations. This was followed by n period cd’ mild temperatures, and at the end of the month a few frosts were experienced. ' Tbe frosts were not severe enough to interfere with fruit crops. Though rain fell on 13 days in September last year only 3.1 G inches were registered, whereas rain fell on 15 days in September this year and 5.20 inches were recorded. The highest recordings were 2.13 inches on .September 4, against 1.06 inches on September 2S last year. The average rainfall for September is 2.28 inches. For the nine months of this year the total rainfall was 24.60 inches, as against 23.73 for the same period last year.
There were eight frosts during September, -the heaviest being six degrees on September 20, and during the same month last year there'were the same number of frosts, but (he heaviest was nine degrees on iSeptmber 14.
