SCHOOLGIRLS’ EFFORT
An example of •unselfish service was "■iven by four schoolgirls, home members of the Junior Red Cross at Khaudallah, recently. One of them was about to celebrate her birthday, and pondered how she could help the Red Cross Society. Calling into collaboration her three friends, thev decided to promote a sale of work, which was held at the residence of Mrs. Arcus, Torwood Road, on Saturday afternoon. Stalls were well stocked, soft drinks and afternoon tea were served, and patronage was good. Proceeds acj cruing from the effort amounted to £a 11/-. The promoters were Margaret Arcus, Margery Hume, Gladys Bailey, and Wynne Hunt. Captain Galloway. Dominion secretary of the society, attended and thanked the girls for their hue gesture. The money has been credited to the Sick and Wounded Fund to reduce the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Cciuueil’s quota.
