First-Aid Certificates Presented The secretary of the Wellington centre, St. John Ambulance Association. Mr. C. Meaehen. attended a parade of the Emergency Fire Service, Lower Hutt City Division, recently to present first-aid certificates to members of the unit who had qualified in first aid. Mr. Meaehen congratulated the candidates on attaining the award and expressed the hope that they would continue to maintain their standard of efficiency by frequent practice in the art of first aid, an important subject that would mean tlie saving of lives not only in an emergency but in their own places of business, on tlie sports field or in liieir own homes. Mr. Meaclien also gave an address on the work of tlie blood transfusion service, mill as a result arrangements are being made for a number of the unit, to have their, blood grouped.

The iniil leader, Mr. J. E. .Salmon, expressed bis thanks to the Si. John Ambulance Association and the speaker for tlie assislance and co-operation given for their training.
